Reviews:

Lynne Heffley, Staff Writer for the Los Angeles Times, writes:

ParentSong: Mother Goose's Nursery Rhymes, Sung by Paul Tracey. Kunjani Music, CD $15, Ages 1 to 6, www.paultracey.org

South African-born storyteller, educator and troubadour extraordinaire Paul Tracey is a grandfather now, and that's the inspiration for this jaunty collection of 35 classic nursery rhymes that take on new life, shaped into mini-stories with Tracey's lively imagination and infectious comic bounce.

Paul Tracey is a good friend (at least that's the way I see it)- a multi-talented performer of wit, mirth and merriment – a master of voices and guitar voicing and brilliant songwriter to boot. His new collection of 35 traditional Mother Goose Rhymes is simple yet complete. The poem-songs are, like a fine wine, meant to breath – the essence of the meter is meant to be appreciated, and the moment to savor. Mother Goose rhymes, compiled to reflect true historical figures and events, are stripped bare and are presented by a true connoisseur of fine listening. Catch you on the flip side!

                                                    *

Veteran children’s entertainer and educator, Paul Tracey, brings his experience and his musical mastery to breathe life into these traditional ditties.

These are 35 short, little stories - gems of empathy, humor and whimsy - that touch our hearts.

Children (and their parents) are immediately drawn in by Paul’s musical talents, his delightful arrangements, his superb articulation and his English accent! His wide range of voices and animal impressions keep you interested from start to finish.

You’ll listen over and over and soon be singing along with him. You’ll clap along with Pat-a-Cake and pant along with Wee Willie Winkie as he runs through the town. You’ll immediately recognize that the fly should not accept the invitation from the spider to climb up into his parlor.

Baa Baa Black Sheep, the fat pigs at the market, the poor dog who lived with Old Mother Hubbard and the pussy cat who visited the Queen - all these friends of yours from your childhood reappear and will bring a smile to your face.

African Music On Cassette (very few left)

My father, Dr. Hugh Tracey, was considered to be the leading authority on African music. Between 1948 and 1970 he traveled and recorded over vast areas of Eastern, Central and Southern Africa and published over 200 long playing records. I have included 10 of his more popular selections on cassettes which include full descriptive cover notes.

For a more complete listing of recordings, journals, etc. please email the director at  ilamsales@ru.ac.za or write to:
