Musical Stories
with Paul This is an interactive, 35 minute-long program for 3 - 7 year olds with their parents, teachers or councilors. The adults love it as much as the kids. The bottom line message is: Isn't Reading Great!
Peter & his friend Finn who is not at all sure he wants to share his grandfather's talent with others! This new show highlights Paul's skills in songwriting, playing unusual musical instruments and engaging children in stories. A new welcoming song explains that Paul is not a video, but a real, live performer! He plays guitar, flute, Kalimba and a surprise instrument and then interacts with a pre-recorded CD which tells him how to play "Amazing Grace" on the musical saw. (Let's keep this part a secret!) He ends with a delightful African tale originally collected in Zimbabwe by his father. It's about a young girl who climbs up onto a rock in the river - finds she can't get down - and gets very scared when the animals come down to drink at dusk. As each animal arrives, the audience imitates it's own particular sound and way of walking, and join in the song the girl sings with each creature. It's a charming story that ends happily! There are many chances during the show for the children to interact. Here's a snippet of Paul's new opening song: Hello, hello! In Orange County?
